Player assessments for the travel teams will be held in late June. The entire Travel Season runs from late August/early September and ends in June. The season has three parts to it: The Fall Season which is outdoors in late August/early September through October. The Winter Season where play transitions indoors during November and runs through April. The Spring Season which begins late April back outside and runs through June. Being on a travel team is about a 10 month commitment with practices and games being held throughout the duration of the entire season.
The Club typically sponsors approximately 10 – 15 teams through the indoor and outdoor seasons. Age divisions for both boys and girls range from Under 8 to Under 16. Roster sizes are determined by CDYSL.
Below is general information pertaining to each age group. Our teams are trained and formed to go alongside our Club’s Philosophy.
U8 Coed Teams
Our U8 level is intended to teach the basics of the game in a fun and friendly environment. Practices for this age group will start in September once school begins. Participation in the Fall Ball League is determined by the coaches. Once the winter indoor season begins practices will take place once a week and it is encouraged that teams participate in the Winter Indoor Leagues at Afrim’s to begin competing in games and continue game competition by participating in the CDYSL Spring League.
U10 Boys & Girls
Our U10 levels include coaching instruction that targets individual skill building in conjunction with basic tactical concepts. In the fall and winter players will be trained in an equal, academy style environment. Players are expected to play in the Fall League and Winter League (indoor). In the event of multiple teams, during the Fall and Winter, rosters for games will remain flexible. The coaches for this age group will work together to enter teams and create game rosters to provide playing experience for all players at appropriate levels as players will develop at different rates as the season progresses. Upon transitioning to the Spring Outdoor CDYSL season, teams will be restructured and finalized based on ability. When there are enough players to form two Spring League teams, the teams will be made based on skill and ability to form a higher level team and a lower level team. When there are enough players to form three teams, a higher level team along with two equal lower level teams will be formed. The formation of these teams will be done using information gathered from the tryouts along with input from the coaches taking into account player performance and development during the Fall and Winter with final approval coming from the VP of Coaching.
U12 Boys & Girls
At this level we understand players are looking for more competitive play. Participation at practice and games is at a higher commitment than our younger ages. Practices will be held twice a week, when possible, and teams have the expectation to participate in the Fall League, Winter Indoor Sessions, Spring CDYSL League, and tournaments. Preliminary teams will be created based off of the tryout evaluation process. When there are enough players to form two teams, the teams will be made based on skill and ability to form a higher level team and a lower level team. When there are enough players to form three teams, a higher level team along with two equal lower level teams will be formed. As players continue to develop through the fall and winter coaches could recommend players to move teams based on their performance and availability/team commitment prior to the CDYSL Spring Season starting. Any players who are being recommended to be moved will be reviewed by the VP of Coaching for final approval prior to submitting final rosters for the Spring CDYSL League.
U14 Boys & Girls
U16 Boys & Girls
At these levels our players want to play competitively and are committed to bringing their skills to the next level. The U14 – U16 age groups do not play travel in the fall since players are encouraged to play on their school teams and to make that their soccer priority. Once the winter indoor season begins it is expected players will participate in both practices and games. Teams will be formed based on skill. If there are enough players to form more than one team please refer to the team formation information found in the U12 section.
